ACCOMMODATION AT MOSNEY VILLAGE

Mosney Village is comprised of houses, bungalows and apartments. All residents have their own private home which allows them to live independently in a safe and secure environment. All accommodation at Mosney Village has its own living area, fully fitted kitchen, dining area and private shower or bathroom facility.  The kitchen is equipped with a cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, utensils and above and below counter storage areas. All accommodation is fully furnished with a Saorview TV and satellite stations. In compliance with the recommendations of Dr Bryan McMahon’s Working Group Report of June 2015, all families in Mosney Village have kitchens and full cooking facilities in their own homes. Mosney Village also provides dedicated accommodation for those with special and mobility needs.

Mosney Food Hall
MOSNEY FOOD HALL

Mosney Food Hall opened its doors in January 2017 and is the first of its kind in Ireland. This newly constructed, modern Food Hall offers all residents a large variety of fresh, nutritious and locally sourced produce, grocery and household items. The Food Hall also stocks a considerable selection of internationally sourced products that residents recognise and enjoy from their home countries. Residents shop for their grocery and household requirements, making their own dietary choices and cook for themselves and their families in their own homes when and how they wish. As recommended in Dr. Bryan McMahon's Working Group Report, the introduction of Mosney Food Hall enables all residents to have the “capacity to infuse their traditions and culture in their children”.

MOSNEY MEDICAL CENTRE

Mosney Medical Centre is a full-time medical service provided by the HSE which is solely dedicated to residents of Mosney Village. The Medical Centre has a full time GP and a Medical Receptionist each Monday to Friday.  The centre provides daily medical check-ups, health screenings, enquiries, vaccinations and referrals for specialist treatment. Residents greatly benefit from having a private Medical Centre where they are seen to promptly by an efficient and experienced team. Prescriptions are sent electronically from Mosney Medical Centre to the local pharmacy as soon as they are issued by the GP. The local Pharmacist travels to Mosney Village each evening to personally dispense medication for patient convenience. There are also three dedicated consultation meeting rooms adjoining the Medical Centre for the use of the resident Public Health Nurse and visiting medical professionals.

THE LEISURE ROOM

The Leisure Room is a 200+ seater seaside themed auditorium which includes a 12ft motorised screen, wireless PA system and LED lighting.

The Garden Room is a 60+ seater themed room with a display of tall grass plants,bright floral prints, birch framed mirrors and hanging light pendants with primary
coloured flexes and LED filament bulbs.

The Conservatory is 100+ seater multi-purpose glass-walled venue featuring nature themed furnishings and colour changing LED lighting around the entire perimeter of the room to enhance all special occasions.

MOSNEY INTREO OFFICE

Under the services Intreo, all manner of queries and assistance is provided to residents under the following categories: Jobseekers, Employment, Children and Families, Carers, Disability and Illness, Retired and Older People, Bereavement, Public Service Identity among many other categories and sub categories. Residents greatly benefit from having a Intreo Office at Mosney Village, within a short walking distance from their homes. Having the continuity of a dedicated Intreo Officer is extremely advantageous for that personal touch and continuity of resident’s enquiries.

MABUHAY PRE-SCHOOL

The Daughters of Charity run a Pre-School for children in the heart of Mosney Village. The Pre-School can accommodate children aged 2 to 4/5 years in state-of-the-art facilities which include 3 classrooms, 2 offices, infant size toilets, kitchen, enclosed outdoor play area, Multi-Lingual Library and Sensory Room. In addition to classroom education and free play sessions, the children go on many educational outings within the locality such as Mosney Beach, Drogheda Fire Station, Drogheda Train Station, pet farms, playgrounds and a local residential home for the elderly. The Pre-School also runs regular parenting support sessions, liaises with schools and offers advocacy and informal support to parents. Mabuhay Pre-School has Siolta accreditation and won an 'Investing in Children Membership Award’ in June 2019.

CHILDREN ATTENDING LOCAL SCHOOLS

All primary and secondary school going children attend local schools in Drogheda, Duleek, Julianstown, Laytown, Bettystown, Tullyallen and Drumcar.  Children are taken by bus to and from Mosney Village to their particular school each day. With all children attending local schools, it greatly assists and promotes integration into the local community. Children attend after school clubs, sporting activities and study sessions with after school travel assistance provided by Mosney Village. 

MOSNEY COMMUNITY ROOM

Mosney Village has a Community Room to support residents’ recreation, education, crafts and hobbies. The Community Room coordinator manages and organises a large variety of events including Mosney Village's 'Women Together' Group, Conversational English Classes, Chess, Yoga, Mindfulness, Mother and Baby Groups, Family Day Trips, Art & Craft Classes, Yoga, Drama and Summer Camps among other activities. The Community Room coordinator also works closely with the Irish Girl Guides and Brownies at Mosney Village each week as well as teaching children in the Homework Club. Management at Mosney Village regularly fund transport and entry fees to events, playparks, drama performances, concerts, art galleries and end of term dinners. Each week during the summer, Mosney Village arrange and fund family day trips to a variety of well-known leisure parks and historical attractions. Many other leisure events are organised by residents with assistance from Mosney Community Room coordinator.

SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION

Mosney Village has a dedicated member of staff to co-ordinate and secure school placements for all Primary and Secondary School going children. The role also involves booking of school transport, liaising with transport providers, school secretaries, home liaison officers, principals, parents and students along with providing advice on transport to third level institutions and other education related queries. The position also involves providing assistance to parents/guardians in navigating school fees, books, uniforms, accessing various grants and social welfare assistance relating to education.

COMMUNITY SOCIAL WORKER

The Community Social Worker is the Reception Officer for Mosney Village. This member of personnel supports residents, especially those with special reception needs, who may need additional assistance accessing services from state authorities and other organisations. Such
services may be appropriate healthcare, schools and other educational institutions, family and child support agencies, trauma counselling and
services provided by local community groups and NGOs and other civil society groups including religious organisations.

LMETB ADULT EDUCATION QUARTER

The Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) is the primary provider of adult education at Mosney Village.  The courses on offer include spoken and written English, Computers and Technology Skills, Cookery Classes, Sewing and Tailoring, Horticulture and Beauty.  The Adult Education Quarter at Mosney Village consists of a suite of 9 classrooms which are state of the art, bright, spacious, comfortable and very conducive to learning. The Education Quarter also includes a Computer and Technology Classroom with over 20 PCs, an E-Learning Language Lab, again with over 20 PCs and individual headphones, Training Kitchen, Beauty Salon as well as Ordinator a private office facility for the course co-ordinator, Tutor resource room and a fully furnished Break Room which is enjoyed by Learners and Tutors alike.

The Mosney Village E-Learning Classroom consists of a bright modern classroom with 20 pcs with individual headphones. This facility is used as a resource which offers support to the learning, teaching and research within the English Language Department. All classes are taught by the Louth, Meath, Education and Training Board (LMETB).

MOSNEY IT CENTRE

Mosney Village’s IT Centre is a fully supervised facility with a suite of PC Kiosks including 2 private online meeting hubs, direct internet connection, free Wi-Fi access and printing facilities. The role involves the facilitation,support, assistance and supervision of adults and children who frequent this popular facility.

MOSNEY TRAINING KITCHEN

Mosney Training Kitchen is a centre of training and upskilling for residents. Lessons are taught by the Louth, Meath, Education and Learning Board (LMETB). The class, entitled Food Choice and Health carries a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Level 2 Certification. It covers modules such as Food Hygiene and Safety, Cooking for Beginners, Cooking on a Budget and Family Nutrition. The classes provide lifelong skills and training for resident learners. This fully fitted training kitchen facility also hosts classes taught by Mosney Food Hall personnel and Mosney Village's Fire and Safety Officer on safe cooking and fire prevention in the home. The course is designed to educate residents in the use of everyday household appliances and advise them of potential hazards in the home. On completion of the course, residents receive a reference that they may present to a potential landlord when they are preparing to move into the community.

MOSNEY BEAUTY SALON

The Mosney Village Beauty Salon is also a centre of training and education for residents.  It is a custom built and professionally stocked salon for residents who wish to learn the skills involved in working in the beauty industry.  The space is bright and modern and consists of made-to-measure work stations and professional salon furniture.  The work stations are complete with professional Hollywood style vanity mirrors with LED natural white lighting to replicate daylight. Classes are taught by the Louth, Meath, Education and Learning Board (LMETB).

THE MOSNEY GYM

Mosney Village Gym is a fully supervised facility with Fitness Coach
and ‘multi gym’ equipment. Pilates Classes, Boot Camp, Couch to 5k and dedicated Ladies Classes are set out in a seasonally changing timetable that makes use of the open green spaces, Seaview Fitness track and beach.

SEAVIEW FITNESS TRACK

The Seaview Fitness Track is a well maintained tightly mown track in a vast area of open green space in front of the Seaview townhouses. It provides residents with a peaceful meandering track amidst the abundance of wildlife at Mosney Village.
Each lap of the walkway is 0.715km so 7 laps is 5km! The Mosney Village Fitness Coach has tailored a QR Code led fitness guide that enables users to scan a code at regular intervals along the track providing on the spot exercises and varying goals to achieve. Positioned adjacent to the seafront, it is common to spot Terns,
Oyster Catchers, Curlews, Doves, Canadian Geese, Swallows, Rabbits and the lively population of Irish Hare. The question is, can you keep up with them!

MOSNEY VILLAGE PLAYGROUNDS

There are two outdoor playgrounds
for children of all ages at Mosney Village. Both playgrounds are
located in the heart of Mosney Village and are adjacent to
residents’ homes. The Indoor Play Area is a popular meeting point for the Parent and Toddler Group.

MULTI USE GAMES AREA

The Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) is an all-weather surface Astro sports arena at Mosney Village. This extremely popular facility is suitable for football and basketball and is floodlit to allow for extended play into evening time.

FORÓIGE YOUTH CLUB

Mosney Village’s Foróige Club was founded in January 2016 with a dedicated club house for boys and girls aged 10 to 18 years. Members learn the skills required for organising their own club events. The also take part in regular local and national events where they integrate with teenagers from across Ireland. The club has already 3 trophies for winning regional and national finals of Foróige’s Got Talent. The club has been awarded several certificates of merit at the prestigious Youth Citizenship Awards which is the highlight of the Foróige annual calendar. The club’s volunteer leaders received recognition from President Michael D. Higgins in the summer of 2019 when he invited them to a Garden Party at Áras an Uachtaráin. The club is supported and funded by Management at Mosney Village to assist and promote friendship, inclusion and integration.

MOSNEY VILLAGE POST OFFICE

Mosney Village Post Office provides a service to residents to collect their daily post, registered mail and parcels. The Post Offices features a quaint shop front and interior. The exterior garden has an original 1950s post box that has been lovingly restored for residents use.

THE BRADÁN

Named after the River Bradán that flows through Mosney Woodland Walkway, this suite of offices is another reception area in the heart of Mosney Village. With a spacious reception foyer and state of the art modern conference room, it is a welcome support to residents on a 24 hour basis if they require assistance.

ACCOMMODATION OFFICE

The Accommodation Office is strategically placed in the centre of Mosney Village to meet the daily needs of residents. The office is attended by the Accommodation Manager who is the direct line of assistance to residents who may have queries regarding their accommodation, contact with the International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS), The Irish Refugee Protection Programme (IRPP), INTREO as well as a range of other services and supports.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

Many family day trips are arranged by Mosney Village throughout the calendar year. Destinations include Carlingford Village, Malahide Castle, Howth Head, Ardgillan Castle, Dublin Zoo as well as local activity centres, art galleries and museums. During July and August children from Mosney Village partake in the GAA Kellogg’s Cúl Camp and the FAI Summer Soccer School at local football clubs with children from the local community. The attendance by up to 90 children at each camp greatly promotes integration and inclusion and puts the children on a par with their school friends. Up to 50 children from Mosney Village train with St. Nicholas GFC in Drogheda weekly during the Gaelic season. Management at Mosney Village fund the transport and have sponsored club tracksuits to further the children’s integration and inclusion. Entitled ‘Integration through Gaelic Football’, this has proven to be very positive for children, their families and the club.

MOSNEY VILLAGE SPORTS FIELDS

Mosney Village has acres of open space, green lawns, tree lined avenues, tennis courts and sports fields assisting positive physical and mental health. The sports fields cater for Gaelic, Soccer and Cricket matches as well as informal training and playing. Mosney Village residents regularly co-ordinate their own matches and tournaments. In addition, visiting clubs and sporting agencies often arrange matches with Mosney Village residents to promote integration and forge new connects with their individual clubs. The sports fields are also enjoyed by walkers and joggers given the wide expanse of open space. Mosney Village provides travel for residents who train with FAI Dublin soccer clubs and to games with Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI). Mosney Village employs a Sports Coach who manages the Mosney Utd. Team at local tournaments and accompanies children and adults to all manner of sporting events.

MOSNEY VILLAGE BUS TRANSPORT SERVICE

Mosney Village has a well-established bus service in place to cater for the needs, welfare and integration of residents. This frequent free shuttle bus service provides residents with the opportunity to avail of the many services in the town of Drogheda such as Shops, Retail Parks, Banks, Post Office, Hospital, Medical Centres, Public Library, Drogheda Museum and a number of other local agencies and supports. The bus service provides the adult residents the opportunity to attend third level college in Drogheda Institute of Further Education (DIFE). The service also facilitates hospital, medical and dental appointments. Each Sunday, a bus is provided for residents to the local churches in Julianstown and Drogheda.

ST. PATRICK'S CHURCH

St. Patrick’s Church at Mosney Village dates back to 1949. This spacious 600-seater church celebrates special occasion masses which includes Mosney Village residents and neighbours from the locality. One of the most memorable occasions held in St. Patrick’s Church was the visit of the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux along with the relics of her parents, St. Louis and St. Zélie Martin. This visit was arranged during the 'World Meeting of Families' in the summer of 2018. It was a huge honour for St. Patrick’s Church to host the event which was attended by residents of all faiths, Mosney Village staff members and locals from the community.

MOSNEY VILLAGE MOSQUE

Mosney Village respects and caters for the individual faiths and religions of all residents. Mosney Village has its own Mosque as a dedicated place of worship for the Muslim community. Overseen by the resident Imam, Mosney Mosque takes guidance from the Irish Council of Imams with assistance in translation by the Mosney Village Cultural Liaison Officer. The Mosque is a vitally important place for daily and weekly worship as well as key events throughout the calendar year such as the observation of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid. There are also Multi-Faith Prayer Rooms available throughout Mosney Village for multi denomination faiths.

MOSNEY VILLAGE LAUNDERETTE

Mosney Village Launderette is a very bright and spacious open plan amenity with over 80 washing machines and over 80 tumble dryers for residents personal use. The facility is fully staffed in order to assist residents where necessary and to ensure a high-level sanitising protocol is in place at all times. residents are assisted and advised how to use the machines with guides in multi languages. All houses have washing lines for residents to use in fine weather.

MOSNEY VILLAGE WATER WELLS

Mosney Village has its own fresh and safe drinking water from an Aquifer Well 300 feet deep in rock.  A very modern facility yields excellent drinking water of the highest quality throughout Mosney Village. The water is tested by an independent water testing company every month to ensure full EU compliance.

RAISED BED ALLOTMENTS

Mosney Village has 42 Raised Bed Allotments and Polytunnel for residents who wish to grow their own vegetables, herbs and flowers. Gardening implements and materials are provided free of charge to budding gardeners. The Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) provide a Horticulture Course to adult learners in the Adult Education Quarter which adjoins the allotments. There is a dedicated classroom with entrance beside the allotments where the theory work is taught whilst the practical segment of the lessons takes place in the allotments. Residents often put their new found skills into practice with beautiful flowers and herbs outside their homes at Mosney Village.

MOSNEY BEACH

Mosney Beach is just a 5-minute walk from the heart of Mosney Village. The 1km of private beach can be accessed via tranquil walk through 20 acres of woodland. The sand dunes are fully intact and are home to a variety of wild fauna and flowers given the protected location. Residents at Mosney Village enjoy visiting the beach all year round. The close proximity of such a tranquil beach is a very valuable resource for recreation, keep fit and mental health benefits. Mosney Community Room and Foróige Club often arrange summer and mid-term activities for children on the beach. Residents also enjoy walking to nearby Laytown and Bettystown to avail of the local amenities there.

ALL IRELAND POLLINATOR PLAN

Mosney Village joined the All Ireland Pollinator Plan in August 2019. This initiative is ongoing with new projects and new areas of planting being designed and managed by the Mosney Village Landscape Gardener with pollinating promoting plants included in each phase.

WILDLIFE AT MOSNEY VILLAGE

There is an abundance of wildlife within Mosney Village. The village’s beachfront and woodland setting has the benefit of having a wide variety of nature and wildlife with Fox, Seagulls, Terns, Oyster Catchers, Curlews, Doves, Canadian Geese, Swallows, Rabbits and in particular, a lively population of Irish Hare.

HARE HABITAT

Mosney Village carefully retains areas of long grass that remain unmown as dedicated Hare Habitats. Signage is in place to notify residents and visitors that the areas are protected Hare Habitats. To complement the largest area of habitat, Mosney Village added a pair of ‘Boxing Hare’ sculptures, mounted on rings of a felled tree from the Woodland Walkway.

TRANQUIL FOREST WALKS

Mosney Village boasts 20 acres of tranquil woodland adjoining Mosney Beach. Families enjoy peaceful walks in this undisturbed natural wild environment. The River Bradán flows through the woodland and into the Irish Sea at Mosney Beach. It takes its name from the Irish word for Salmon, therefore meaning ‘Salmon Stream’. The River Bradán is quite unique as it splits into two streams. One part joins the River Nanny which flows through Julianstown and into the sea at Laytown. The other part enters the sea at Mosney Beach.
